Shopping hours
Shops in the center and supermarkers are open almost 24h a day. Usually shops tend to be open from 9 to 20.00.
Tipping
Like almost everywhere in the world, tipping is a usual practice, so a tip of 10-12% will be more than welcomed.
Discounts
ISIC, Euro26 and ITIC are recognized in most museum and attractions. Usually discounts from 10 to 50%.
Public phones & Phone cards
Public phones are almost everywhere in Prague. In order to use most of them you will need a telephone card that can be purchased from any newspaper or cigarette stand. The value of the cards varies from 100 to 200 CZK (from 3 to 7 EUR). From place to place there are also phone boots that work on coins (2, 5, 10, 20 CZK).
Public transport
Public transport tickets can be bought from vending machines at the metro or tram stations and at newsstands. 14 CKZ tickets are not transferable and are valid 15 minutes in any tram, bus or metro. 20 CZK tickets can be used for any public line (tranfer is possible) for 60 min on working days and for 90 min on weekends and holidays. IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to validate your ticket at the yellow validating machines you can find before climbing down at the underground or when getting in trams and buses.
