Exposition of historical pharmacies
There are many shopwindows to glance at, when climbing up the picturesque Nerudova street. One of them, however, doesn’t offer the usual sight of clusters of puppets or jewelery. It is the Golden Lion house, where you can find the Dittrich pharmacy, which is home to the National Museum’s exhibition of the pharmacy culture in the Czech lands from Renaissance to the XIXth century .
The collection contains several thousands of items as it was established more than a hundred years ago thanks to the often generous contributions by Czech pharmacists and it was also extended by the National Museum during the 20th century.
The interior of the pharmacy is furnished with original equipment dating back to 1821 and it is the oldest surviving pharmacy interior in Prague.
