New Year's Eve in Prague
Prague is a hot city, where you can enjoy such events as the new year’s eve with glamour and yet spending less money than in other hot cities like Paris, London or Madrid. There is a lot of clubs, restaurants, discotheques and squares with party people you can join and enjoy. It’s up to you where to go.
At first, you are going to need some accommodation. Now a little warning – Some of the hotels have been receiving reservations since April. There might be a real trouble getting a hotel room, so if I were you, I would book it at least a month in advance.
Overextended terms are traditionally the start of the advent, especially the first weekends in December. During Christmas time, Prague is usually occupied by people from Greece, Netherlands and Turkey. During the New Year’s Eve the countries with most tourists in Prague are Italy, Spain, Great Britain and Germany. Czechs do not appear on the hotels guestlists very often that days. The expected number of visitors in Prague at the New Year’s Eve 2008 was about 100 000.
Now, when you have your hotel booked, it is time to find your entertainment. I will list some suggestions from 2008 for you:

Karlovy Lazne”:http://www.prague.net/karlovy-lazne may be the place to spend the night, if you like disco music, but the place will be packed like never.
But, as this get outdated quickly, I would suggest checking Ticketpro, ticketstream and other web pages which offer tickets to events online. Google it, think about it… than book it. But be prepared – as I said at the beginning, Prague is hot, and in clubs like Roxy, it can get literally hot, swarming with people. But Great Fun.
An alternative would be spending the Eve outside. There are going to be many fireworks. I’ll skip the part where I warn you how dangerous it is bla bla, and get to the part where I tell you – the place where you will definitely see many people shooting fireworks, is the Old Town Square.
Czech television Nova often broadcast their New Year show from “Wenceslas Square, which is of course full of people, looking for the free show broadcast. On the big stage, built near the statue of St. Wenceslas it is possible to sometimes hear some of the top Czech stars, so it can be quite entertaining, even when free.
If you want to enjoy a view of fireworks, take some drink with you and find some perch, and to be in a park where you won’t have to look at the marching crowds, I remember Vysehrad worked quite well .
